CHANA MASALA – INDIAN CHICKPEA CURRY

Chana Masala or Indian chickpea curry is the food that I make whenever I feel I need some comfort because this is exactly what it is, a hug in a bowl. It is dead simple to make but the vibrancy of the dish makes it look like you've been slaving away in the kitchen for hours!

Enough chitchat! Here is the recipe!

• 2 cups of cooked chickpeas
• 1 tin of tomatoes or 3 small tomatoes finely chopped
• 1 onion
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 1 bay leaf
• 2 tsp cumin seeds
• 2 tsp mustard seeds
• 1 whole chili
• 1 chili, chopped (optional)
• 1/2 tsp ginger powder
• 1/3 tsp turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp fenugreek powder
• 1/3 tsp asafoetida
• 1/3 spoon of chili powder (optional)
• 2 tsp of curry powder
• 2 tsp of garam masala
• 1 can of coconut milk (optional)
• fresh cilantro
• vegetable oil
