Apple cinnamon crumble and vanilla custard.

My personal favorite. Just delicious!

This delicious vegan apple crumble is a dessert that can be made using simple, affordable, and easy-to-find ingredients and it is to live for! And to accompany this delicious piece of heaven I will show you how to make a luscious and light vegan custard sauce! Yummm!!!!

Enough chitchat! Here is the recipe!

Apple cinnamon crumble and vanilla custard.

• VANILLA CUSTARD:
• 1½ cups (350 grams) plant-based milk
• ½ cups (50 grams) cornstarch plus 2 tablespoons of plant-based milk
• ⅓ cups (65 grams) sugar
• ⅛ teaspoon turmeric
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• FOR THE CRUMBLE:
• 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
• ½ cup of corn starch
• 1 ½ cups of sugar
• 100g of vegan butter
• FOR THE APPLE CINNAMON FILLING:
• 4 to 5 medium apples, peeled and cubed
• Sugar to taste (I have added 4 tablespoons)
• Cinnamon to taste (I have added 2 teaspoons)
• CUPS MEASUREMENT:
• 1 cup = 250 ml / 8.45 oz
• 1/2 cup = 125 ml / 4.22 oz
• 1/3 cup = 85 ml / 2.87 oz
• 1/4 cup = 60 ml / 2.02 oz

Instructions

  • 1.
    Preheat the oven to 185C / 365F.
  • 2.
    Add the peeled and cubed apples into a bowl filled with water, reserve.
  • 3.
    Add all the ingredients for the crumbling pastry into a bowl, mix it gently until it becomes lumpy. Reserve it.
  • 4.
    Add all the ingredients for the filling to another bowl, mix well and reserve it.
  • 5.
    Grease a baking dish, add one layer of the crumbles, do not stress it, add all the cinnamon and sugar apples, finish with a layer of the crumbles.
  • 6.
    Put it in the oven and bake it for 35 to 45 minutes.

    Make the custard:

    Add all the ingredients for the vanilla custard to a saucepan, mix well, turn the heat to medium-low and stir until the sauce thickens up.
  • 9.
    Transfer the vanilla custard to a small jar and serve it, either hot or cold, on top of the crumble.
